Over more than 70 years, the Banat University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine "King Mihai I of Romania" from Timișoara (USAMVBT) has established itself as a reference academic institution in the national and international educational space. Through the solid and meritorious contributions of its teachers and researchers, USAMVBT has made an essential contribution to the development of the vast field of life sciences, bringing an essential contribution to the country's economic progress.
Scientific research represents one of the greatest challenges within the university's global strategy. Due to the complexity and diversity of the research fields addressed by the members of the academic community within the university, the research directions of USAMVBT include both fundamental/basic research, with a greater international impact, with more significant publications, and applied research, with more extensive practical involvement in the local business and industry environment.
Scientific research at USAMVBT is carried out within the Institute of Research for Biosecurity and Bioengineering (ICBB), a high-performance institute capable of meeting the demands of the economic environment and ensuring technology transfer.
The research-development and technology transfer activity of I.C.B.B. is carried out in accordance with the strategy of U.S.A.M.V.B.T. and is oriented towards fundamental and applied research activities in the following fundamental fields and departments:
a. Field - Biosecurity, includes the following departments:
- environment;
- food security;
- health.
b. Field - Bioengineering, includes the following departments:
- plant resources;
- animal resources.

USAMVBT, through ICBB, announces the submission of the project
TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FOR THE OBTAINING OF INNOVATIVE FUNCTIONAL FOODS ENRICHED WITH BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS - CTTU 2020
within
Regional Operational Program 2014-2020
Priority Axis 1: Promoting technology transfer
Investment Priority 1.1: Promoting investments in R&D, developing links and synergies between enterprises, research and development centers, and higher education, especially promoting investments in the development of products and services, technology transfer, social innovation, eco-innovation, and public service applications, stimulating demand, creating networks and groups, and open innovation through smart specialization, as well as supporting technological and applied research activities, pilot lines, early product validation actions, advanced production capacities, and first production, especially in the field of key enabling technologies and the dissemination of general-use technologies
Investment Priority 1.1 - Operation A
Brief description:
Research-development-innovation activity is at the core of the European Union's strategy to become the most competitive and dynamic knowledge-based economy. Smart specialization is a strategic approach to economic development through specific support for research, development, and innovation (RDI).
In the current regional context, USAMVBT holds a special place in carrying out RDI activities in the agri-food field, the establishment of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Center – CTT – USAMVBT, constituting a real support in the technological transfer of research results to the business environment.
The idea of this project was generated as a result of the demand for functional products on the market and in the context of over 10 years of collaboration between USAMVBT and processing units in the field of flour foods and bakery products, respectively over 5 years in the field of processing ingredients for the food industry, identifying the requirement to obtain such products. In this context, the project aims to develop, experiment, and transfer at least one technology for obtaining functional flour premixes usable as plant matrices in the technology of bakery, flour foods, pastry, and confectionery to a unit in the field of flour food industry or ingredient processing for the food industry.
The valorization of the results at the end of the project consists in the introduction into manufacturing and commercialization of products through bakery, pastry, confectionery units in the country, respectively companies in the field of ingredient processing for the food industry.
As a distinct unit within USAMVBT, the Technology Transfer Center (CTT) will make the technological transfer connections for the research-development activity of ICBB, which is carried out in accordance with the strategy of USAMVBT and is oriented towards fundamental and applied research activities.
