The bioeconomic approach to antimicrobial agents – use and resistance proposes an inter-institutional and systemic perspective on the use and resistance to antimicrobial preparations considering: i) economic efficiency, ii) environmental sustainability, and iii) social acceptance of the actions of a macrosystem that includes the subsystems of humans, animals, food-feed, and the environment.

The purpose of the project is to address, from a bioeconomic perspective, the sensitivity and resistance of microorganisms to antimicrobial products in the subsystems that make up the food chain.

The complex project consists of five component projects, as follows:

unknown node Strengthening the knowledge base and evidence through monitoring consumption and screening sensitivity to antimicrobial products, project coordinated by USAMVBT

unknown node An economic approach to bacterial resistance to antimicrobial agents, project coordinated by Oncogen

unknown node Optimizing the use of antimicrobial preparations in the animal system, project coordinated by USAMVBT

unknown nodeSensitivity and resistance of bacteria associated with antimicrobial agents from food, feed, and the environment, project coordinated by USAMVBT

unknown node Analysis of the antimicrobial resistance network: identifying critical nodes and cost-benefit analysis of the use, microbial resistance, and diagnostic methods, project coordinated by the West University of Timisoara
