About this program

The Doctoral School of Veterinary Medicine Timișoara (SDMVT), part of IOSUD–USVT, has functioned as a distinct structure since the 2011–2012 academic year, building on a tradition of doctoral activity at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine spanning over 40 years. This tradition has been consolidated by generations of renowned professors and researchers who have contributed to the development of the veterinary medical field in Romania.

The Doctoral program operates within a competitive and internationalized academic framework, supported by the logistical resources and infrastructure of the "Horia Cernescu" Research Laboratory Complex. The program ensures advanced training for researchers by integrating them into scientific projects, interdisciplinary teams, and national and international collaborations.

The main research directions include: food safety and security, protection and welfare of domestic animals, and the prophylaxis and control of animal diseases. Specifically, research topics cover areas such as: study of transmissible diseases, immunology of parasitoses, innovative research in veterinary surgery, development and testing of veterinary products, effects of pollutants and mycotoxins on health, biosecurity on farms, reproductive management in domestic animals, and risk assessment for consumers and processing units.
