The Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts are reviewed by a member of the Editorial Board or by qualified external reviewers.

Submitted manuscripts are first reviewed by the Editorial Board to determine whether they fall within the journal’s scope. Manuscripts that do not fall within the scope will be returned to the authors.

Manuscripts that fall within the journal’s scope are reviewed by two independent scientific reviewers who have agreed to review the manuscripts and have submitted the Reviewer Response Form to the Editor-in-Chief.

The identities of the reviewers are not disclosed to the authors. The reviewers submit the Reviewer Form to the Editor-in-Chief, providing comments on the scientific content of the manuscript and on the appropriateness of its publication. The Editor-in-Chief summarizes the reviewers’ comments to be communicated to the corresponding author. When reviewers have differing opinions on a manuscript, the Editor-in-Chief may send the manuscript to a third reviewer for an additional evaluation. Taking into account the opinions of all reviewers, the Editor-in-Chief decides whether to accept, request revisions, or reject the manuscript. The review process typically takes 3 weeks. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the manuscript may be accepted, returned to the author for minor revisions, or rejected.
